DUPONT, Wash. — The Chico State men's golf team wrapped up the SMU Bishop Invitational in 11th place Saturday, finishing the shortened tournament with a 604 total at The Home Course.

Originally scheduled for 54 holes, the tournament was reduced to 36 after Friday's weather conditions forced the opening round to be canceled. The Wildcats returned Saturday for the final 18 holes and posted a 299, six strokes better than their opening-round 305.

Sammy Bermant led the Wildcats with a tie for 27th, following a 74 (+2) with a 73 (+1). Ty Weaver also fired a 1-over 73 in the final round after opening with a 77 (+5), finishing tied for 45th. Vineet Vallamsetty finished tied for 58th with rounds of 76 and 78, while Cooper Hambrick also tied for 58th after shooting 79-75. Collin Statler rounded out the Wildcats' lineup with back-to-back rounds of 78.

Alex LemMon, competing as an individual, put together the Wildcats' best round of the tournament Saturday. LemMon fired a 6-under 66, an 11-stroke improvement from his opening-round 77 (+5), to finish seventh overall.

Cal State San Marcos claimed the team title with an 8-under tournament total, while Colorado Christian's Bradley Mulder earned the individual title.

The Wildcats will remain in Washington for their next event, beginning Monday, Sept. 28, at Bellingham Golf & Country Club in Bellingham.
