GOODYEAR, Ariz. — The Chico State women's golf team opened its 2026-27 season Monday at the RJGA Shootout at Estrella, finishing the first round in ninth place in a sixteen team field after carding a 307 at the Golf Club of Estrella.
Gabriella Fanucchi led the Wildcats with a 1-over par 73, putting her in a tie for 13th on the individual leaderboard. As a team, Chico State ranked second in the field in par-3 scoring and fourth with 57 pars.
Emilee Canepa finished the opening round with a 76 and is tied for 28th, while Sienna Garcia shot a 78 to sit in a tie for 47th. Sophia Magaña rounded out the Wildcats' scoring with an 80, placing her in a tie for 60th.
The Wildcats return to the Golf Club of Estrella Tuesday for the second and final round of their season-opening tournament.
