Brewington and Holley Lead Wildcats To Win Over Gators

CHICO, Calif. – The Chico State men's basketball team delivered a complete performance Thursday night, topping San Francisco State 85–70 in CCAA play on Feb. 12, 2026, at Art Acker Gym. The Wildcats move to 8–14 overall (6–11 CCAA), while the Gators drop to 3–21 (2–15 CCAA).

How it happened

Chico State set the tone early with pressure defense and pace, turning steals into transition chances and grabbing extra possessions on the offensive glass. After an early tie, the Wildcats steadily built separation behind strong interior finishes and timely threes, taking a 41–32 lead into halftime.

Max Walters strung together a solid scoring night from long range, shooting four-for-six from three point range, ending with fourteen points. Chris Holley pieced together another strong night leading the Wildcats in scoring with sixteen points and six assists, bringing his season total to 111 assists.

San Francisco State made multiple pushes in the second half—getting 26 points from Diego Martinez—but Chico State answered each run with efficient offense and trips to the free-throw line. The Wildcats stayed aggressive in the paint, kept winning the turnover battle in key moments, and controlled the game's tempo down the stretch to close out the 15-point win.

Six Wildcats ended the night in double-digits in the points column, an all-around team effort offensively with strong contributions from players off the bench.

The 'Cats will host the undefeated Pioneers of Cal State East Bay this Saturday in Acker Gym, tip-off at 3 pm.
