TURLOCK, Calif. – The Chico State volleyball team couldn't ignite a big spark offensively and Stanislaus State kept its momentum going with a sweep over the Wildcats (14-25, 16-25, 23-25) on a rare Tuesday afternoon.
Chico State drops its record to 6-10 overall and 3-6 in the CCAA. Stanislaus State extends its win streak to four while improving to 13-4 on the season, 6-3 in conference play. The two teams head north of Highway 99 to Chico to complete the home-and-home series in Acker Gym Friday at 5 p.m.
The Wildcats hit .107 on the attack, recording only 23 kills and 15 errors on 75 attempts. The Warriors, on the other hand, averaged 27 percent offensively, tallying 40 kills and 16 errors on 89 attempts.
Gwyneth Wentzel led the effort in the front line with seven kills but no blocks, marking only the second time this season she didn't stop an attack. Kailie Flores had five kills and five blocks.
Chico State had to make only 27 digs, with Jessie Camarillo reaching for seven of them.
Stan State's offense was led by Isabella Saucedo, who had 13 kills. Gabby Rawson had 13 digs and five assists, Ellison Weaver had seven digs and made four service aces.
