LEXINGTON, Ky. – High fives are all around the Chico State volleyball team as for the fifth straight year the Wildcats' success in the classroom in the 2022-23 school year landed them the United States Marine Corp and the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award.
 
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. For Chico State, it makes up 1,333 collegiate and high school men's and women's teams for this year's award, setting an all-time record number of programs honored.
 
Chico State is one of 155 NCAA Division II institutions to receive the Team Academic Award and makes up half of the California Collegiate Athletic Association on the list.
