The 2023-24 academic year is closing up but the awards keep coming to Chico State as eight members of either or both the men's and women's cross country and track & field teams was selected as Academic All-Districts by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Â
Representing the women's side are Elise Barnum, Ava Cavallaro, Katie Hawley, Chloe Taylor and Hannah Tiffany while the men's side has Brayden McLaughlin, Joshua O'Neill and Dylan White recognized.
Â
College Sports Communicators, formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America, selects the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. Those who were selected Academic All-District advances to the CSC All-America ballot. First- second- and third-team Academic All-America will be announced on June 28.
Â
To be eligible for the program, student-athletes must have competed in 50 percent of their sport and maintain a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale at the current institution. The student-athlete must also be a sophomore or higher and have attended his/her institution for a full calendar year.
Â
For Dylan White, he is no stranger to the Academic All-America program. A double-major in criminal justice and psychology, his balancing between the course and the classroom in 2021 landed him a spot on the 2021-22 Academic All-America list.
