Fitting capper to Stewart’s Wildcat career: All-CCAA honors

Chico State women’s golfer wins second conference honor after posting team-best 77.07 strokes per round on the season

Taylor Stewart might have sank her final putt as a member of the Chico State women's golf team, but the accolades keep coming for the Wildcat standout. Just a week after racking up her fourth top 20 tournament finish of the 2022–23 campaign at the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships, Stewart has been named as one of 10 conference golfers to earn First Team All-CCAA honors for the just-completed regular season.

Wednesday's announcement marks the second time Stewart has received conference accolades. The Oakdale native earned an All-CCAA Honorable Mention as a true freshman during the 2019–20 season.

In her final year as a Wildcat, Stewart averaged a team-best 77.07 strokes a round and finished in the individual top 30 in seven of Chico State's eight tournaments on the season. The biggest highlight for Stewart in 2022–23 was registering a career-low single round score of two-under par 70 on the way to posting her first tournament win as a Wildcat April 3–4 at the Sonoma State Spring Invitational. Stewart accounted for six of the Wildcats' 10 lowest single round scores on the season.

In her Wildcat career, Stewart played in 25 tournaments and averaged 78.5 strokes a round. Her 18 total top 30 finishes included five top 10 performances and one tournament victory.

Stewart has excelled in the classroom as well as on the golf course. As she moves toward receiving her bachelor's degree in business marketing, Stewart has been the recipient of three CCAA All-Academic honors and two Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Awards, while being named twice to the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar Team.

At the conclusion of the 2021–22 season, Stewart received the CCAA Impact Award, which recognizes a single conference student-athlete who has exemplified leadership through participation in community service and engagement activities while maintaining dedication to academics and athletics.
