Otters Force a Draw with the Wildcats on Senior Day

'Cats Earn Sixth Tie of the Campaign

CHICO, Calif. - With the season winding down to an end, securing points in their final two games was crucial for the Wildcats as they hosted No.22 Monterey Bay on Senior Day Sunday. Sam Addo scores the first of his Chico State career after only minutes of being on the pitch to get his 'Cats the lead in the first half.

Unfortunately, the advantage didn't stand for the home side when the Otters leveled the score late in the second half, giving the Wildcats their fifth tie of the conference campaign.

There is a single match day remaining in the CCAA regular season, and the Wildcats will need a win against Stanislaus State to clinch a top-four spot in the standings and host the first round in Chico. Ties and losses from Sonoma State, San Bernardino, and San Marcos clinch a home berth for the first round.

Sam Addo came onto the pitch in the 38th minute, scoring a contested header in the box only minutes later in the final seconds of the half to put his team up and score his first career goal. Adrian Fontanelli earned his 8th assist of the season with the outstanding cross from the right wing.

The Otters were putting on the pressure throughout the second half, with Emanuel Padilla being called to make five saves in the half, recording seven total in Sunday's match.

Preston Moll almost gave the Wildcats the lead in the 84th minute with a header in a sea of Otters, forcing their keeper to make a save to keep the 'Cats at bay.

The Wildcats will finish the CCAA regular season at Stanislaus State on Thursday, sitting fourth in the standings and still battling for a spot in the postseason tournament. They improved to an 11-1-5 record overall and 4-1-5 in conference play.
