CHICO, Calif. - The No.3 Chico State Wildcats remained undefeated after another Sunday CCAA matchup against Cal Poly Humboldt. Following the 1-1 draw, the Wildcats are still in contention for the post-season tournament with a conference record of 3-0-3.
Chico came out quickly to apply pressure on the Lumberjacks, gaining a short lead from an impressive header from Miles Rice from an outstanding cross produced by Dawson White.
Rice recorded seven striking shots throughout the game but couldn't quite put one of his strikes on frame—three of them just missed wide of the net's frame.
Throughout the second half, Humboldt found a strong rhythm and applied nonstop pressure to the 'Cats—making it difficult for the home side to possess the ball in the attacking third.
The Lumberjacks tied up the match late on a penalty kick awarded in the 75th minute.
No.3 Chico State will travel to Southern California for a final road trip to take on conference leaders Cal State LA on Friday, followed by a matchup against the Toros of Dominguez Hills on Sunday. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. at University Stadium in Los Angeles and broadcast on the CCAA Network.
