The unrivaled support felt by Chico State's student-athletes is one of the essential components of the Wildcats' recurring and unrivaled success. Tuesday provides another opportunity for the Wildcat Family to give them that fuzzy feeling along with the concrete support they need to build upon the foundation set both those before them, and perhaps raise the Chico State banner even higher.
 
The truth is, we're falling behind our opponents in the crucial area of scholarship money, and the generosity of our donors is the primary way for us to provide programs and materials that lead to student-athlete success. So, we're asking that you once again Back the 'Cats in an effort to increase our student-athlete scholarship allocations and purchase items such as a therapy laser gun and student-athlete travel gear. The therapy laser gun would provide our highly-regarded athletic training staff with a new, industry-standard technology for injury management, allowing them to get student-athletes back to their best selves more quickly. The travel gear will help our 350 student-athletes look as good as they play while representing the Wildcat Family proudly on the road.
 
On Tuesday (or beginning now if you would like), make a vital difference for those student-athletes while helping your favorite team win the Back the 'Cats Cup! Sure, we're a Wildcat Family. But we're also fierce competitors! The team with the most donors per student-athlete wins, the Cup, captured by the women's soccer team last season. Support either fund and simply select your favorite team at checkout to help them climb the leaderboard. Bragging rights are on the line!
 
Scholarships Need
When we joined the CCAA in 1998–99, our scholarship allocations were among the highest in the CCAA. We've been slipping for a while now. In the 2020–21 academic year (the latest we have complete records for), we ranked eighth of 12 conference institutions, having raised and awarded only 37% of what is allowable by the NCAA.
 
Many student-athletes are juggling jobs while participating in their sport. Increasing the pool of scholarship dollars allows us to support more student-athletes and provide more competitive athletic scholarships, helping us maintain our tradition of excellence while recruiting the region's best and brightest to Chico State.
 
Student-Athlete Success Programs Need
Our Student-Athlete Success Programs provide a comprehensive student-athlete experience for each Wildcat in every area of their lives. These programs include our award-winning 'CatsSkills initiative (student-athlete centered programming focused on leadership development, personal development, professional development, and community engagement), our state-of-the-art strength and conditioning center, and our highly regarded and growing athletic training staff. Together, they help to provide special experiences for our student-athletes.
