Dylan White Wins Academic All-America honor!

One of only seven cross country student-athletes to earn honor for athletics and academics

Dylan White exudes excellence in every avenue he travels. He's an esteemed leader: co-President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and advocate for his peers. He's a frontrunner in competition, having earned All-America honors by placing 37th at the 2021 NCAA Cross Country Championships after helping propel Chico State to conference and West Region titles. He later helped the Wildcats to a runner-up finish at the conference Track and Field Championships. In the classroom he's a dynamo, delivering all A's while double majoring in criminal justice and psychology.

"Maintaining a perfect GPA while pursuing a double-major is an incredible academic feat," Chico State Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Matthew Thomas said. "Doing so while contributing to a conference title in one sport, and a runner-up spot in another sport is unbelievable. The time and dedication he puts in to his studies and competition are remarkable."

White has dreams of becoming an FBI agent after he graduates in the spring of 2023. He is already running in rarified air as one of only seven student-athletes to earn Academic All-America honors and NCAA Division II Cross Country All-America honors in 2021-22.

White is the lone Academic All-America selection at Chico State in 2021-22: one of 47 in all of NCAA Division II cross country and track and field. However, he's one of 10 who earned Academic All-District honors, joining track and field teammate Kevin Telford, Kevin Warren (men's basketball), Sarah Emigh and Susanna Garcia (women's soccer), and Brooke Larsen, Amanda Metzger, and Alani Nguyen (softball).

It was another banner year for Chico State academically and athletically.

"Having the opportunity to observe our student-athletes at a much closer vantage point over the course of this year, it is clear that they have fulfilled their commitment to the complete meaning of 'student-athlete'," Thomas said. "They come prepared to learn, and ready to play. Our student-athletes posted an overall average GPA of 3.15, serving as a testament to their academic prowess. They also brought home the tightly contested CCAA Commissioner's Cup, for the strongest athletics performance across the conference."
