7th-Ranked Wildcats Hit Road Hunting Wins

At San Francisco State Thursday night and Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday afternoon

The Chico State men's basketball team has not tasted victory since January 2, having suffered through three cancellations and absorbed their first loss of the season since improving to 10-0 with a win that day. The Wildcats are hoping to put an end to that stretch this week. They start a four-game road stretch Thursday night at San Francisco State at 7:30, and Saturday afternoon at Cal State Monterey Bay at 3.

Chico State is ranked No. 7 in the nation at 10-1 overall and 6-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Wildcats are 5-0 away from home and have won their last eight regular-season road games. San Francisco State is 6-8 overall, 4-4 in the CCAA, and 4-3 at home. The Gators are coming off home wins against Cal State East Bay and Cal State Dominguez Hills last weekend. Cal State Monterey Bay is 6-4 overall, 5-2 in the CCAA, and 3-3 at home. The Otters, who are scheduled to host Stanislaus State Thursday night, have not played since January 6 due to a trio of cancellations.

In an effort to avoid more cancellations, San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay have modified their spectator policies. Only those on the guest pass list will be allowed in the Main Gym at Don Nassar Family Plaza Thursday night. The event is closed to the general public. No spectators will be admitted to Saturday's showdown at The Kelp Bed. For more information, please visit the websites of the respective athletic departments by clicking the following links:

The Wildcats have relied on a balanced scoring attack—seven players are averaging between 7.7 and 14.8 points per game—and one of the nation's stingiest defenses. They rank among the NCAA Division II top 20 in scoring defense, fewest fouls, field-goal percentage defense, and 3-point field goal percentage defense. Meanwhile, point guard Isaiah Brooks leads the CCAA and ranks seventh in the nation with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.67, and Malik Duffy ranks 12th in the nation with a 3-point field goal percentage of 47.5.

Following this four-game road trip, the Wildcats will play six of their final eight regular season games at home.
