Five members of Chico State's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee stand in front of a table-full of donations during the 2019 Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry drive
While the Chico State campus has been mostly quiet this year, the Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry—the front door of Chico State's vital Basic Needs Project—is busier than ever. Chico State students, including some student-athletes, are relying more than ever on the program for food and other basic needs.
As a result, we are asking our amazing Wildcat Family to give as generously as ever during our annual effort to pack the Pantry throughout the week of February 8–12.
Chico State's Basic Needs Project and the Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry has become an annual focus of support for the Department of Athletics. This year, that effort will look different. Instead of collecting donations in Acker Gym or at University Soccer Stadium, we're asking our "Wildcat Family" to drop off donations at the Pantry or to give online.
To donate in person, please schedule a drop off by calling 530-898-4098. The Pantry is open Monday through Friday from 9:30–12:30.
Monetary donations can be made
HERE, or via text message. Simply type ChicoCares and send to the number, 71777.
All donations are accepted and appreciated. However, the Pantry aims to stock up on nutritious foods and items to support our Wildcats, and is especially in need of the following:
- Canned proteins (chicken, fish, beans, lentils)
- Peanut butter
- Canned soups
- Nutritious snacks/meal replacements (protein bars)
- Dairy alternatives
- Personal hygiene products, especially tampons and sanitary napkins
- Pasta
- Breakfast cereals and oatmeal
- Condiments and spices
The Pantry is for all Chico State students and one of the many services Basic Needs provides. If you are a student in need, please stop by the Pantry or
fill out this Application for Assistance.
The Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry is located in room 196 of the Student Services Building. All visitors are required to wear a mask and socially distance.
Last year, thanks to the generous contributions of Chico State supporters, student-athletes, staff, administrators, coaches, alumni, and more, our Wildcat Family contributed the equivalent of 5,393 items and hundreds of dollars to the Pantry. The total was more than twice collected the year before and the most among the California Collegiate Athletic Association's 13 institutions.
We need your help to make that kind of impact once again!
The Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry, founded in 2013 on the belief that all students should have access to healthy food, serves thousands of students per year.
