TURLOCK—The Chico State men's basketball team wore its black away uniforms to Saturday night's California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener at Stanislaus State. They did not sport a scythe, but they made things grim for the host Warriors in a 72-44 victory.
The Wildcats limited Stanislaus State to four first-half field goals, continuing their trend of strong defensive efforts during their 5-0 start. And this time their offense came along for the party. The Wildcats buried 55% of their first-half shots and led 41-13 at the break. Their largest lead of the night came when Isaiah Brooks buried a 3-pointer, assisted by Colby Orr, to make it 65-29 with just over eight minutes to play. That was the team's season-best 12

Malik Duffy led the way with 15 points and Joshua Hamilton scored 13. Brooks and Orr chipped in 11 points apiece. Hamilton and Orr also racked up five rebounds and four assists apiece. Kelvin Wright, Jr. led the Wildcats with eight rebounds. They outrebounded Stanislaus State 38-27.
