Men’s soccer drops third straight; in action again Sunday

LA JOLLA—The Chico State men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision Friday night against UC San Diego in La Jolla. The Wildcats out-shot the Tritons 7-6 but could not find the back of the net.

Substitute Noah Ross paced the Wildcats with three shots, including a pair that were on goal. Garrett Hogbin and Alex Fluitt also had second-half shots saved.

UC San Diego's Brett Jones' goal in the 32nd minute proved to be the match winner. Jones' blast to the near upper-V came from just inside the 18-yard box.

UC San Diego improved to 10-3-0 overall, 5-2-0 in the CCAA, and 8-3-0 at home.

Chico State has now lost three straight after a sensational start, falling to 7-4-0 overall and 3-4-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. They'll attempt to pull out of that slide Sunday when they take on Cal State San Marcos in Southern California.
