Timothy sets tone as ’Cats stay unbeaten at home

Silverstrom 14th Wildcat to reach 100 career 3-pointers

Marvin Timothy set the tone, Michael Bethea, Jr. scorched the net, and the Chico State men's basketball team rolled to an 88–59 victory over visiting Cal State Monterey Bay Thursday night at Acker Gym.

Timothy notched career highs with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and did most of his damage as the Wildcats raced to a 13–3 advantage on the way to a wire-to-wire win.

Bethea drilled four straight 3-pointers in a four-minute span as the lead grew to 34–15.

Marvin Timothy got the Wildcats off to a quick start and finished with
career-highs of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

On the other end of the floor, the Wildcats blocked 10 shots–just one off the school record–led by Justin Briggs' five rejections.

Chico State improved to 7-0 at home, 11-2 overall, and 4-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Wildcats have won five straight and 11 of the last 12 against Cal State Monterey Bay (2-9, 0-5 CCAA).

If the Wildcats were looking past the Otters toward their showdown with undefeated and 15th-ranked San Francisco State Saturday at 3:30, it did not show.

Timothy had eight points and five rebounds in the game's first four-and-a-half minutes.

Corey Silverstrom sank his 100th career 3-pointer two minutes into the game. He is the 14th Wildcat to reach that milestone.

Joseph Lynch finished the half with a 3-pointer, which came on Robert Duncan's sixth assist of the half, and the Wildcats went to the locker room with a 49–25 lead.

Isaiah Ellis had two breakaway dunks and hit a 3-pointer and Duncan scored five consecutive points during a 17-3 run early in the second half as the lead ballooned to 38.

Duncan finished with 15 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds. Ellis also had 15 points. Bethea contributed 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal. And Briggs chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds to go along with his handful of blocks.
