REDDING – In 2010, Cody Hein became the winningest coach in the history of Chico State volleyball, and in the ensuing years his teams have never failed to consistently rack up the victories. As a result, the 2015 edition of the Wildcats helped Hein reach another milestone Monday in Redding – with three-set sweeps of both Simpson University (25-14, 25-20, 25-21) and William Jessup (25-10, 25-19, 25-18), Hein – in his 13th year at the helm – can now claim 200 career wins as the 'Cats' head coach.

as Wildcat Head Coach.The two Labor Day holiday victories improved the Wildcats' record to 6-0 on the year, matching Hein's 2008 and 2012 Wildcats teams for consecutive wins to start a season. Chico State won seven straight to begin the 1992 campaign.
Hein is now 200-145 with the Wildcats and 246-189 in just over 14 years as a Division II head coach.
Nearly every Wildcat saw playing time Monday, with Shelby Frank leading Chico State with 11 kills while contributing 16 digs over the two matches. Hannah Wilkins delivered 10 total kills; Ashton Kershner added nine winners; Anna Baytosh pounded out eight kills, and Kim Wright and Janai Johnson chipped in with seven kills apiece. McKenna Carroll dished out 32 assists, while Shannon Cotton came through with 22 digs and three service aces.
The Wildcats are back in action this weekend, taking part in the Western Oregon Invitational in Monmouth, Ore. Friday Chico State takes on Notre Dame de Namur at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 2:30 p.m. matchup against host Western Oregon. Saturday the 'Cats battle Concordia (Ore.) at 9:30 a.m., then face Wisconsin-Parkside at 5p.m. in the final non-conference match of the season.
