A late-summer lightening storm stopped last season's Chico State-Dixie State women's soccer match 20 minutes early, ending it in a 1-1 draw. Saturday night in Chico, the Wildcats and Red Storm provided their own fireworks in a 3-2 Chico State victory.
Carlie Reader's second goal of the night (and her second as a collegian) was the match-winner for the Wildcats, who led 2-0 before Dixie State stormed back to equalize.
Pooja Patel's 20th-minute goal put the Wildcats
in the lead. She assisted on Carlie Reader's
just 71 seconds later.Lindsay Dias played a ball over the top to the true freshman, who beat a defender to it down the right flank. She dribbled with an angle to the top-right corner of the box and then buried a shot into the near upper-V with just 6:52 to play.

Reader raced down the left flank and fired a shot ticketed for the far corner before Dixie State goalkeeper Danica Nusink made a diving deflection. Pooja Patel was waiting at the far post, however, and simply placed it into the empty net for a 1-0 lead.
Reader was not to be denied seconds later. Nicole Roberts headed a ball toward the near post where it was flicked on by Patel. This time it was Reader at the far post. She beat Nusink near post for her first collegiate goal and a 2-0 lead in the 21
st minute.
