To those who felt Amir Carraway seemed too smooth to stop playing basketball, the news will come as no surprise. The four-year standout at Chico State has signed with SC Rasta Vechta of Germany's ProA League. Their season tips off August 28.
Â
Carraway is the second Wildcat to sign a professional contract in Europe in two years. He joins Jason Conrad, signed by ZZ Leiden in Holland last summer.
Â
"I can't wait to bring the fans of Vechta a little taste of California," Carraway posted on his Instagram account. "I'm excited for the upcoming 2014/2015 season. I am truly blessed for the opportunity. Let's get to Work!"
Â
The Most Valuable Player of the NCAA Championship Tournament West Regional in March, Carraway sank two free throws with 1.9 seconds left to springboard Head Coach Greg Clink's crew into the Elite Eight for the first time.
Â
A two-time All-California Collegiate Athletic Association selection, Carraway graduated as Chico State's ninth leading scorer all time with 1,164 points. He also ranks among the program's career top 10 in 3-pointers, blocked shots, free throws, free throw percentage and games played.
