Wildcats win D-cisively

Carraway leads the way on his birthday with 18

Box Score Athletes with scoring aptitude abound on Chico State men's basketball coach Greg Clink's roster. Witness Saturday night. Amir Carraway and Jordan Semple scored 18 points apiece, Giordano Estrada dropped 17 and Sean Park 10 as the Wildcats outscored San Francisco State 71-57 at Acker Gym.

The same effort and focus on the defensive end is what he demands. Because when they have both, the Wildcats get wicked good.

Chico State outscored San Francisco State 21-4 over an 11-minute stretch to turn a 22-19 deficit into a 40-29 lead and cruised from there.

Men's Basketball player Amir Carraway
The Wildcats improved to 14-4, matching their best start since the 1940-41 season, and 10-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Carraway was a boss on his birthday hitting 5-of-7 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free throw line while grabbing five rebounds and three steals and dishing out two assists. He also dished out birthday brownies to his Sports Information Director after the game – a sure way to work your way into the lede.

Semple simply dominated during the decisive run, scoring the Wildcats' last 12 points of the first half. He also contributed eight rebounds, a career-best four steals, three assists and blocked a pair of shots.

Estrada stuck 5-of-8 threes and the point guard committed only one turnover in 38 minutes.

Park pushed his way past one of the greats, Aaron Martella, into 11th on the school's career scoring list.

Drew Kitchens also gave the Wildcats some important minutes off the bench, finishing with six points, two rebounds and two assists in 22 minutes.

The Wildcats will host UC San Diego and Cal State San Bernardino next Friday and Saturday night, respectively.
