Sean GallagherChico State had a terrific first half, highlighted by Ajeakwa's third goal of the season and goalkeeper Luke Dennison's denial of a penalty kick.
Â
It was the second time this season that the true freshman keeper cleared a penalty kick off the line and it definitely gave the Wildcats a lift. Less than three minutes later, Ajeakwa cut off a pass in the middle of the pitch about 30 yards out. He took a couple of touches and then made the Broncos goalkeeper pay for sneaking out a bit to cut off his angle. As Ajeakwa slid left across the top of the box he lofted a quick shot that angled right and nestled high into the net in the far-right corner.
Â
The Wildcats went to the half leading 1-0, but the lead was gone less than three minutes into the second half.
Â
Dennison made his fifth save of the day on Daniel Asor's early second-half try, leading to a corner kick. The Broncos took advantage when Alexander Turkson flicked on Mathew Perez's corner with a header and the ball deflected off the back of Wildcats defender Mike Janjigian and into the back of the net for an own goal.
Â
Asor assisted on the game-winning goal in the 60
th minute, putting Christian Gonzalez Diaz through with a back-heeled flick. Diaz dribbled around Dennison near the right post and then sent a shot into the left corner for his seventh strike of the season.
Â
The Wildcats best chance to tie it came in the 89
th minute, but Jeff Pereira's twisting attempt to redirect a ball in the box went just wide.
Â
