Box Score Outside of the easy 79-65 win, not much was appealing about the Chico State men's basketball team's win against Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday night. Amir Carraway's double-double was the glaring exception.
Carraway was the Wildcats' steadying force in an untidy affair racked with fits and starts. The fourth-year senior matched his career-high with 25 points and pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds, while adding three assists and two steals.
The senior scored the Wildcats' first eight points to give them the lead for good. Chico State's defense made sure of that, holding the Toros to just one bucket over the final 9:23 of the first half as its lead swelled to 38-22.
Carraway, who hit all five of his first-half shots, went to the break with 13 points. He scored 12 points in the second half while grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out a pair of assists.
The lead was 12 or better for the game's final 22 minutes even though the Wildcats let off the pedal defensively, allowing 43 second-half points while scoring 41.
Rashad Parker poured in 22 points and posted five assists for the Wildcats, who won their 15th straight home game. Sean Park finished with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Chico State is now 9-2 overall and alone in fourth place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) at 5-2. Cal State L.A., part of a two-way tie for second at 6-1, comes to town Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
Cal State Dominguez Hills fell to 5-9 overall and 2-5 in the CCAA.
