Men’s basketball team making short trip to Simpson

Wildcats have beaten the Red Hawks in each of the past two seasons

The Chico State men's basketball team will make its shortest road trip of the season Saturday to take on Simpson University in Redding. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Wildcats are 13-0 against NCAA Division III and NAIA opponents under Head Coach Greg Clink. Two of those wins have come at Simpson's expense over the past two seasons. The Wildcats beat Simpson 80-52 last season and 82-59 in Redding in 2011.

They're 3-0 all time against the Red Hawks.

This is the Wildcats' final tuneup before the annual Carl's Jr. Mac Martin Invitational Nov. 29-30 at Acker Gym and will give them the opportunity to head into next weekend on a wining note.

The Wildcats opened the season in impressive fashion with a 75-43 drubbing of Holy Names but lost to Cal State Stanislaus in overtime, 80-78, last Saturday.

Simpson is 1-5 and coming off a 110-53 loss at Boise State last Friday.
