Box Score It was moving weekend for the Chico State men’s basketball team. The Wildcats woke up Friday morning alone in sixth place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). But with Saturday night’s 68-43 thrashing of Cal State East Bay – their second runaway win of the weekend – they’ll head to bed tied for third.
Chico State improved to 10-6 overall and 7-5 in the CCAA and is now tied with San Francisco State and Cal State L.A. for third place, three games behind Cal State San Bernardino and four back of conference leader Cal Poly Pomona.

Sean Park’s return from an injury played a big role in the Wildcats’ big weekend. He led the team with 15 points, while Rashad Parker poured in four 3-pointers en route to 12 points. Jordan Barton had his best game of the season, finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds.
But the Wildcats’ best moments came on the defensive end. Amir Carraway blocked a career high four shots one night after matching his career best with three and the Wildcats routinely forced Cal State East Bay to settle for low-percentage shots late in the shot clock. The Wildcats haven’t held a CCAA team to 43 points since a 58-42 win against UC San Diego on Feb. 13, 2010.
Parker and Damario Sims kick-started the Chico State offense, teaming up on a trio of 3-pointers in the game’s first 3:33. Sims created each opening and then Parker pounded them home. Sims finished the half with six assists and finished the game with seven in just 23 minutes of action.
That early outburst had the Wildcats out front 11-6, and they never trailed after that. Park and Sims sparked a 13-0 run with back-to-back threes later in the half that gave Chico State a 29-12 edge and the route was on.
Chico State, in the midst of a stretch in which they’re playing eight of 10 on the road, will have a short week before playing at Humboldt State Thursday night and then at Cal Poly Pomona Saturday.
