Upstart Wildcats see if the slipper fits Friday

ARCATA - It's time to see if the slipper fits on the Chico State men's basketball team. Already one upset victory into the 2010 postseason, the Wildcats will attempt to knock off top-seeded Cal Poly Pomona in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championship Tournament semifinals Friday at 5:30 and officially earn the title of Cinderella.

The winner will also earn a spot in Saturday's CCAA Championship Tournament final, where an NCAA Championship Tournament berth will be on the line. Third-seeded Cal State San Bernardino and second-seeded Humboldt State will meet in Friday's other semifinal at 7:30.

Chico State enters the game with a record of 16-12, double its win total of the prior season. Cal Poly Pomona, last season's national runner-up, is primed to make another similar run. The Broncos have won 14 in a row to improve to 21-5. But one of those losses came at the hands of Chico State, which overcame a 14-point deficit with 3:44 to play to force overtime and eventually won 72-70 earlier this season in Chico.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN Radio 101.7 FM and 1340 AM and on the Chico State Web site Webcast.
