CARSON, Calif. - The Chico State men's basketball team put quite a scare into California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA)-leading Cal State Dominguez Hills Saturday night before falling to the Toros 73-60 on senior night at the Torodome. Justin Argenal scored 20 points, including a 3-pointer with 7:09 remaining the drew the Wildcats within three points. The Toros pulled away down the stretch, however.
Andy Bocian scored 11 points and Zach Graves chipped in 10 for the Wildcats, who took a lead on Chris Sharp's 3-pointer with six minutes to play in the first half. Chico State fell to 7-18 overall and 4-14 in the CCAA with the loss. The Wildcats were also officially eliminated from CCAA Championship Tournament contention.
The Wildcats wrap up the 2008-09 campaign this week when they host Cal State Stanislaus Wednesday and UC San Diego Thursday. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 7:30.
Sharp finished with eight points off the bench and Josh Jackson contributed seven points, four rebounds, two steals, and two assists.
