CHICO, Calif. – The Chico State men’s basketball team kicks off the final road swing of the regular season this weekend as they travel to Rohnert Park Friday to take on Sonoma State, then on Saturday the ’Cats head to Arcata to battle Humboldt State.
Despite being mired in the midst of a five game losing streak, the Wildcats (6-15 overall, 3-11 CCAA) enter the weekend just two games back for the eighth and final conference tournament berth. This will be the second time that Chico State has faced both Sonoma and Humboldt this season – the Wildcats beat the Seawolves 72-62 in overtime Jan. 10 at Acker Gym, but lost at home to the Lumberjacks 65-61 on Jan. 9.
Andy Bocian of the ’Cats continues to lead the CCAA in scoring, averaging 20 points a game. He paced Chico State with 19 points in the first meeting with Humboldt State, then poured in 29 points the next night in the overtime victory versus Sonoma State.
Both Friday and Saturday’s games are set to tipoff at 7:30 p.m. Hear all the action with Mike Wessels calling the play-by-play on ESPN 101.7 FM in Chico or via the Internet on the Wildcat Athletics website.
