CHICO, Calif. — Chico State goalkeeper Kari Gonzales and her Cal State L.A. counterpart, Reyna Coca, each made splendid saves to ensure a 0-0 tie between the teams in a California Collegiate Athletic Association women's soccer tilt Sunday afternoon at Chico State's University Soccer Stadium.
Gonzales made four saves for her 26th career shutout as the Wildcats moved into a tie for first place in the CCAA North Division with the tie that moved them to 7-4-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the CCAA. Coca made eight saves for Cal State L.A., now 6-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the CCAA.
Chico State outshot Cal State L.A. 13-8, while also enjoying an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Wildcats will be back in action next Sunday when they travel to face San Francisco State.
