CHICO, Calif. – Bianca Gorospe hit .448 en route to a match-high 16 kills as the 18th-ranked Cal State L.A. volleyball team beat No. 22 Chico State 30-24, 30-27, 30-24 Saturday night at Acker Gym.

The Wildcats (10-4 overall, 3-1 CCAA) got 17 kills from Lindsay Macias, but struggled with their passing all night and hit only .126 as a team. Cal State L.A. improved to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the CCAA.

Cal State L.A. dominated play at the net, notching 11.5 blocks to Chico State’s three. Amy McMahon led all players with seven blocks, while Gorospe and Airess Padda netted four blocks each.

Lindsey Spainhour dug 13 balls for the Golden Eagles to lead all players. Cal State L.A. had 42 digs in the match, while Chico State had just 31.

Lacy Stringfellow paced Chico State with seven digs. Crystal Trifelletti led the Wildcats with a pair of blocks. Erica Brick led the team with 29 digs.

Chico State is back in action next weekend when it travels to face Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal Poly Pomona. The Wildcats return home Friday, Sept. 28, for a match against Cal State Monterey Bay.
