DENVER, Colo. - The Chico State volleyball team wrapped up the 12th Annual Premier Challenge in Denver with wins over Regis University and Metro State on Saturday to even its tournament record at 2-2.
The Wildcats knocked off Regis in three games, 30-24, 30-25, 30-24. Lindsay Macias led all players with 18 kills. Megan Cape had one of the best matches of her career, leading all players with 21 digs and tallying 13 kills. Erica Brick recorded 43 assists and a match-high four service aces and Libero Lacy Stringfellow recorded 18 digs.
In the Wildcats 3-1 win over Metro State, Gillian Heydorff recorded a career-high 26 kills to go along with 19 digs and three aces. Game scores were 30-19, 29-31, 30-27, 30-18. Macias added 19 kills and freshman Crystal Trifeletti notched 11. Brick totaled 64 assists and 11 digs.
On Friday, Augustana came back to beat the Wildcats 3-2. Chico State won the first two games, 30-28 and 30-24, but Augustana took the next two games 30-25 and 30-29 and won the decisive fifth game 15-8.
Heydorff had 19 kills and Macias added 17. Erica Brick recorded 63 assists and 13 digs, while Stringfellow added a team-high 21 digs. Smiland also added 16 digs and led the team with five service aces.
No. 12 Central Missouri defeated the Wildcats 3-1. CMU took the first game 30-25 before Chico came back to win game two 30-28. CMU finished out the match 30-27 and 30-20.
Macias led the ‘Cats with 21 kills and Trifeletti added 12. Brick had five aces, 58 assists, and 11 digs. Stringfellow led the team with 16 digs.
