CHICO Calif. – Everyone on the Chico State roster scored and the Wildcats led by as many as 36 points in a 98-67 victory over Pacific Union College Tuesday night in a non-conference game in Acker Gym.
Frank Igbekoyi led four Chico State players in double-figures with 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting despite playing only 12 minutes. True freshman Josh Jackson scored a career-high 14 points, Mike Martin chipped in 13 points and made all three of his 3-point tries, and Jesse Soto added 12 as Chico State improved to 3-4 on the season.
Pacific Union fell to 0-5 on the season despite Brandon Monty’s 19 points off the bench and Kameron Barnes’ 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
Point guard Justin Argenal ran Chico State’s offense smoothly, dishing out nine assists and committing only one turnover while also nabbing five steals. Ryan Smith came off the bench to contribute eight assists and no turnovers while grabbing a pair of steals. In fact, the Wildcats finished the game with a season-high 17 steals, only two shy of the school record.
Chico State will wrap up non-conference play Dec. 21-22 when it heads north to take part in the Humboldt State Tournament. The Wildcats return home Jan. 4 to face Cal State Monterey Bay.
