Art Acker Gymnasium

Acker Gym serves as the home of Chico State men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball, providing an energetic and intimate environment in the heart of campus. Originally constructed in the 1960s, the facility has long been a central hub for Wildcat Athletics and a gathering place for the Chico State community.

In 1999, Acker Gym underwent a significant renovation that enhanced both the student-athlete and fan experience. Upgrades included new flooring, the addition of more than 500 seatbacks for improved spectator comfort, and an upgraded public address system that elevated the game-day atmosphere. These improvements helped modernize the facility while preserving its classic character.

With a capacity of 2,143, Acker Gym offers a close-up and engaging viewing experience where fans are right on top of the action. The compact design and steep seating create a loud, energetic environment, especially during key conference matchups and rivalry games, making it one of the most challenging venues for visiting teams.

The facility also features a lobby and concessions area, providing convenient access to refreshments and gathering space for fans before and during events. Whether it’s a packed house for a basketball showdown or a spirited volleyball match, Acker Gym delivers a lively and memorable game-day experience.
