During the first half of the Chico State women's basketball team's 2019–20 season, Bailey Jones didn't see a whole lot of playing time. Throughout February, though, her minutes have increased considerably—and the Bay Area native is making the most of the opportunity. Jones provided an important spark off the bench in the Wildcats' road wins over Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino, doing most of her damage from behind the 3-point line. Her huge contributions from downtown makes Jones the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
Jones averaged seven points a game against the Broncos and Coyotes, connecting on five of her 10 field goal attempts, including 4-of-8 from downtown. Jones also added a rebound, two assists, and three steals in her 25 minutes of action, helping the Wildcats improve to 14-10 overall and 10-8 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play.
Â
Thursday against Pomona, Jones scored five points in the pivotal fourth quarter, nailing a 3-pointer to highlight a game-deciding 11-2 run as the 'Cats came from behind to beat the Broncos 80-78. Two nights later, Jones was on fire from beyond the arc against Cal State San Bernardino, burying three treys in the second quarter and finishing with a career-high nine points in the Wildcats' 74-65 victory over the Coyotes.

Jones and the Wildcats are back at Acker Gym this week for the final home stand of the regular season. Chico State hosts San Francisco State Thursday and Sonoma State on Saturday, with both games tipping off at 5:30 p.m.
