Jhavahn Holston appears to be back in good form. That's very good news for the Chico State men's cross country team and bad news for the Wildcats' opponents. He will also appear in the Acker Gym hallway, displayed among the 2019–20 Wildcats of the Week thanks to his season-best performance at Saturday's Western Washington University Cross Country Classic.

Holston's breakout race came at last season's NCAA Championships. The then-freshman finished 40th to earn All-America honors. After a bit of a slow start to 2019—Holston's season started with a sixth-place finish at the Stump Invitational and 34th-place  at the Capital Cross Challenge—the sophomore from Phelan (Sorrano High School) appears ready for the postseason following his impressive fourth-place finish Saturday at Sudden Valley Golf Course in Bellingham, Washington.

Holston ran as part of the lead group throughout the 10-kilometer clash and joined teammate (and CCAA Runner of the Week) Trad Berti in the breakaway lead group of four over the final kilometer-plus. Holston was the second Wildcat across the line, eight seconds in front of teammate Wyatt Baxter. He was seventh on the team in the season opener and fourth on the team two weeks ago.

Holston's 10k time of 31:52 is a new personal record. He and the Wildcats will be back in action one week from Saturday, on October 26, when they race for their 18th consecutive California Collegiate Athletic Association title in Arcata. Holston finished seventh at last year's CCAA Championships.
