Chico State Athletics

With his renowned predecessor, Jalen McFerren, graduated and out in the workforce, sophomore Isaiah Brooks was given the keys to the Chico State men's basketball team's offense this season.
 
The home fans got a good look at how Brooks' game has transformed since earing that opportunity with the Wildcats home for the first time in over a month last week. What they witnessed was awesome to behold.
 
Brooks averaged 16.5 points, 9.0 assists, and 5.5 rebounds over two games to earn Wildcat of the Week honors.
 
The Sheldon High School (Sacramento) product posted career highs of 18 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists while leading the Wildcats to an 87-67 win against Cal State Dominguez Hills Thursday. Saturday, in a 92-90 overtime loss against Cal State LA, Brooks dished out 11 assists—the most by a Wildcat since Jan. 10, 2009—to go with 15 points and four rebounds.
 
He is just the fourth Wildcat in the Greg Clink era to reach double-figures in assists, joining Junior Russell, Jay Flores, and Justin Argenal.
 
Brooks shot 53 percent from the field, 55 percent from 3-point range, and made all nine of his free throw attempts last week.
 
With 42 assists and only 13 turnovers in his 337 minutes of action this season, Brooks ranks sixth in the nation and leads the California Collegiate Athletic Association with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.50.  
 
Brooks and the Wildcats are back on the road this week, traveling to Seaside for a Thursday night contest against Cal State Monterey Bay, followed by a Saturday matinee in Hayward versus Cal State East Bay.
