The Chico State women's basketball team continue to thrive on its home court, raising their record at Acker Gym to 4-0 last week with wins over Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State LA. Mikaila Wegenke served as a key component to the Wildcats' two victories, providing valuable production off the bench and making huge contributions on both the offensive and defensive ends. On the strength of her outstanding back-to-back performances, Wegenke is the latest Wildcat of the Week.

In a combined 36 minutes of action, the Brentwood product averaged 8.5 points and 5.0 rebounds, while adding one assist, one block and two steals. Wegenke hit nearly every shot she took, connecting on six of seven field goal attempts and hitting five of seven free throws to help Chico State improve to 9-4 on the season and 6-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

Thursday, Wegenke was 5-for-6 from the field and matched her career high with 11 points in the Wildcats' 78-54 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills. Wegenke didn't miss a shot Saturday against Cal State LA, posting six points and six rebounds while grabbing a pair of steals as the 'Cats downed the Golden Eagles 59-47.

Wegenke is averaging 5.5 points and 4.2 rebounds midway through her maiden season as a Wildcat. She is shooting 46.3 percent and ranks second on the team with 21 offensive rebounds. Â

Wegenke and the Wildcats are back on the road this week, traveling to Seaside for a Thursday night contest against Cal State Monterey Bay, followed by a Saturday matinee in Hayward versus Cal State East Bay.
