Chances are good that when the Chico State men’s basketball team performs well, Jalen McFerren plays a big part in the Wildcats’ success. Last week was no exception—the senior point guard led the ’Cats to convincing victories over Dominican and Stanislaus State, averaging 15.5 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and a steal per game. McFerren’s all-around production has netted the Castro Valley High School product Wildcat of the Week honors.
 
McFerren connected of 11 of his 21 shots in the two Wildcat wins, including 7-of-13 from 3-point range.
 
He made his biggest splash Saturday in a 73-59 conference victory at home against Stanislaus State. He posted his second career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and chipped in five assists and a steal. McFerren made 7-of-14 shots, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc.
 
Wednesday, McFerren made 4-of-7 shots, including his only 3-point attempt, as the Wildcats coasted to a 92-53 win against Dominican. McFerren also posted a game-high eight rebounds and chipped in three assists and a steal.
 
McFerren and the Wildcat men’s basketball team have two big conference games on tap this weekend, traveling to Southern California to battle CCAA rivals Cal Poly Pomona Friday and Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday.
