Julie Shaw delivered one of the finest performances of her illustrious Chico State career Saturday at the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross Country Championships, placing third and leading a group of four Wildcat runners in top 10 finishes as Chico State won the CCAA crown for the second straight year and sixth time in the last eight years. Shaw, a senior from Redding, completed the 6-kilometer course at Beau Pre Golf Course in McKinleyville with a time of 22:21.6, earning All-CCAA honors. She's been named a Wildcat of the Week for her effort.
Shaw's highest finish this season prior to the CCAA Championships was a 13th place showing at the Willamette Invitational October 3. However, she seems to be peaking at the right time.
Shaw has been named All-CCAA twice in her Chico State career and earned All-West Region honors as a freshman. She'll be in the hunt for another All-Region honor on Nov. 7 when the Wildcats, ranked No. 1 in the nation, look to defend their West Region title at the West Region Championships in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.
