Gillian Heydorff not only continued her climb up the Chico State career statistics ladder, but played a key role in weekend victories over Humboldt State and 16th-ranked Sonoma State. Her efforts in helping erase a two-match losing streak and putting the ’Cats back in the win column have earned the volleyball team’s lone senior Wildcat of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Friday against the Lumberjacks, Heydorff became just the fifth player in school history to collect 1,000 career kills, and her all-around performance (19 kills, 17 digs and four service aces) helped the ’Cats down Humboldt State in four sets. Against the Sonoma State Saturday, Heydorff stepped up on both offense and defense, posting 20 kills, 21 digs, a service ace and two solo block as the Wildcats came from two sets down to defeat the Seawolves. She heads into this week’s action ranked fourth on Chico State’s all-time career list in kills (1,026), fourth in service aces (126) and eighth in digs (860).
