Over the past three years, Abbey McGrew has consistently provided the Chico State women's golf team with steady play and impressive tournament scores. Now a senior, the Yolo product appears determined to make her final year as a Wildcat the best yet. Thanks to McGrew matching both her lowest single-round career score and highest tourney finish, the 'Cats posted a solid third place showing in the season-opening Art of Golf Classic. Her command of San Francisco's Presidio Golf Course makes McGrew the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
McGrew finished the two-day, 36-hole Art of Golf Classic at 11-over par 155, earning a share of third place in the 48-player tournament. After shooting a 10-over 82 in Monday's first day action, McGrew delivered a monster round on the final 18. She birdied three straight holes and sat at 3-under par early in Tuesday's final round, eventually equaling her career-best score with a 1-over par 73.
Â
The season-opening effort mirrored the way McGrew finished the 2015-16 season, with a third place finish in the Wildcats' final regular season tournament and three straight sub-80 rounds in the NCAA West Super Regional.

McGrew and the Wildcats are back in action Sept. 19-20 as part of the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate, taking place at The Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona.
