Meghan Delamater has maneuvered her way through a tricky academic schedule this spring, with afternoon classes making it difficult to practice with her Chico State teammates. Many times Delamater has had to work out alone, but her focus and dedication have paid off handsomely in 2016, culminating in an All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) performance in the javelin that kick-started the 'Cats' successful run to a seventh straight women's track & field conference championship. Delamater's outstanding effort also makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.

Delamater scored the first team points for the Wildcats during Thursday's opening events at the CCAA Track & Field Championships in Los Angeles, placing third in the javelin with a heave of 138-feet-06. Her success with the spear set the tone for the following two days of the meet, which saw Chico State outdistance runner-up UC San Diego by 56 points and defend a conference title the 'Cats have held since 2010.

Last month Delamater scored a personal best mark with a throw of 139-feet-01 at the Brutus Hamilton Challenge, which stands as the fourth-longest javelin throw in the CCAA this season and tied the fifth-best distance in the event in the history of the program.

Delamater will find out in a week if her hard work lands her the ultimate success – an invitation to compete in the NCAA Track & Field Championships May 26-28 in Bradenton, Fla.   Â
