Finally cleared to play just two days before the Chico State men’s soccer team hit the road for its season-opening road trip, Wildcats’ midfielder Omar Nuno wasted no time making his presence known.
 
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound transfer from Santa Rosa Junior College started both matches and came up big.
 
He led the team with four shots in Saturday’s 1-0 loss at 8^th-ranked Seattle Pacific. His hard volley from the right side of the box carried just wide of the left post in the 10th minute. He narrowly missed to the left with a 20-yard free kick in the 69th minute. With just over three minutes to play, Nuno broke free into the left side of the box before sending a low attempt across the goalmouth that went two yards wide of the right post.
 
In Sunday’s 3-2 loss at Saint Martin’s, Nuno notched his first goal and first assist as a Wildcat. He assisted on Matt Hurlow’s goal in the 48^th minute and then hit a low blast into the right side netting in the 83^rd minute.
 
Nuno and the Wildcats are back in action Thursday against Academy of Art and Saturday against Dominican. Both matches will take place at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco.
