Chico State center fielder Ryne Clark tied the California Collegiate Athletic Association and Chico State record with six hits in a game Friday and then scored the winning run in walkoff fashion Sunday as the Wildcats swept a four-game series against San Francisco State. Clark hit .471 and slugged .765 while scoring five times, driving in two runs, and stealing two bases to earn Wildcat of the Week accolades.
Clark went 6-for-6 with two triples (tying the Chico State record), a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Chico State’s 12-0 win in the nightcap on Friday.
The senior center fielder was hit by a pitch and scored a run in the Wildcats’ 3-0 series-opening win.
Sunday Clark contributed an RBI single to stake the Wildcats to the lead in the opening game. He also walked and stole a base.
Clark drew a leadoff walk in the eighth inning of the series finale, stole second, and then scored on Blake Walker’s walkoff single to give the 8th-ranked Wildcats their 10th win in a row.
Clark currently ranks fourth in the CCAA with eight stolen bases and ninth in conference play in runs scored.
