Matt Hurlow scored the golden goal in overtime for the second time in his career to lift the Chico State men's soccer team to a 1-0 win against Cal Poly Pomona Sunday at University Soccer Stadium. The Wildcat of the Week made a bending run up the left flank and took J.P. Medina's pass in stride before taking two touches and then smashing a low liner just inside the near post to give the Wildcats a win in the 93rd minute.

Four of Hurlow's six career goals have been game-winners, including his golden strike in overtime to beat Sonoma State as a true freshman last season.

The 6-foot-2 sophomore from Escondido poked home a cross from Octavio Guzman in the 52nd minute on Sept. 15 in Turlock for what proved to be the game-winning goal against Cal State Stanislaus.

His first career goal, which came in his third collegiate match, was also a game winner. Hurlow has accounted for the deciding goal in four of the Wildcats' last 13 wins.

The Wildcats, now 5-1-0 overall and atop the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) South Division at 3-1-0, will face arguably their stiffest challenge yet this weekend on the road at Cal State L.A. (Friday at 4:30) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (Sunday at 2).
