Hakeem Dyson did something last Saturday that no one in Chico State men’s track & field history had ever done. He ran the 110-meter hurdles in 14.50 seconds. The sophomore from Concord clocked an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark in the process at the UC Davis-hosted Aggie Open. Dyson topped his previous best by .07 seconds and broke David Burton’s school record of 14.55 set in 1992.

The Wildcat of the Week now shares the fastest time recorded in the nation this year with senior Catrell Butler of Texas A&M-Kingsville.

It was only a matter of time for Dyson, who posted the second fastest 110-meter hurdles time in Chico State history last season as a freshman at 14.57.

The NCAA Automatic Qualifying mark is 14.10. The Provisional Qualifying standard is 14.69.

Dyson also posted a 13th place finish in the 200-meter dash Saturday, recording a time of 22.68 seconds.
