Chico State women’s golfer Bianca Armanini may be a true freshman, but once she’s on the course and has a club in her hand, she exhibits the skill and efficiency of a seasoned upperclassman. The native of Wailuku, Hawaii made her college and Chico State debut a memorable one in the Grand Canyon Fall Invitational, leading all Wildcat golfers and finishing inside the top 20 on the tournament’s individual leaderboard. Her impressive feats on the fairways have earned Armanini Wildcat of the Week honors.
Armanini completed the Grand Canyon Fall Invitational’s 36 holes with a score of 13-over par 153, resulting in an 18th place finish and helping Chico State begin the 2012 season with a solid fifth place team showing.
Armanini was a model of consistency at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield, Ariz., carding a 4-over par 76 in Monday’s opening round to grab a share of 14th place. She followed up Tuesday with a 5-over 77 to post Chico State’s highest individual finish of the tournament.
Armanini and the Wildcats return to action Oct. 8-9, traveling north to take part in the Western Washington-hosted Viking Invitational at Bellingham Country Club.
