Ashley Webster’s collegiate career is about to come to a close, but the senior thrower from Klamath is seeing to it that she goes out on a high note. Friday at the Stanislaus Twilight Qualifier, she bettered her existing Provisional Qualifying mark in the shot put by over two feet, which proved to be enough to earn a spot in the NCAA Track and Field Championships, while posting a PR in the process. Webster’s work was not only the highlight of the Chico State women’s track and field team, it was also worthy of being named Wildcat of the Week.
Webster won the Stanislaus Twilight’s women’s shot put Friday with a personal-best heave of 47-feet-01.5. The throw also claimed a place in the Chico State record books as the third longest shot put in school history.
Webster and many of her Chico State track and field teammates find out Tuesday who will travel to Turlock and represent the Wildcats in the NCAA Track and Field Championship, taking place this Thursday through Saturday at Warrior Stadium’s Al Brenda Track on the Cal State Stanislaus campus.
