Chico State freshman starting pitcher Ryan O’Shea improved to 3-0 on the season with another strong start Friday at Western Oregon. O’Shea, a product of Heritage High School in Brentwood, Calif., allowed just one run on three hits in six innings in the Wildcats’ 5-2 win in the second game of a doubleheader.

O’Shea struck out two and walked two while lowering his ERA to 1.61 and his WHIP to 0.94. Opponents are hitting just .183 against the right hander. He’s allowed only 15 hits (13 singles and two doubles) in 22-and-a-third innings.

O'Shea and the eighth-ranked Wildcats (12-3) will attempt to stay hot this weekend when they face Cal State Stanislaus in a four-game series. They play at Nettleton Stadium Friday at 6 PM and Saturday at noon before heading south to Turlock for a doubleheader Sunday at noon.
