The Chico State women’s basketball team has a number of players who at any given moment in a game can light it up on the offensive end. As Jordan Morris reminded California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opponents Saturday against San Francisco State, she is one of those Wildcats who can score in big bunches, as evidenced by a career-high 17-point effort in Chico State’s 74-59 victory over the Gators. Her hefty contributions to both ends of the ’Cats’ back-to-back road victories makes Morris the latest Wildcat of the Week.
For the week, Morris averaged 10 points over the two games, connecting on eight of nine field goal attempts while going 4-for-5 at the free throw line. The pride of Apple Valley, Minnesota also grabbed a combined 11 rebounds and posted a block and a steal, helping the Wildcats improve to 12-6 on the season and 8-4 in CCAA conference play.
After playing a solid 20 minutes in the Wildcats’ runaway 82-46 win Thursday over Cal State Monterey Bay, Morris literally could not miss Saturday against San Francisco State. She was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and hit all three of her foul shots to establish her new career-high of 17 points. Morris also snagged a team-high eight rebounds as the ’Cats registered the double-digit victory over the host Gators.
So far on the season, Morris is averaging 5.3 points and 5.5 rebounds a game.
Morris and the Wildcats pack their bags again this week and hit the road, visiting the Bay Area Thursday night to take on Cal State East Bay before traveling down to Southern California to face undefeated Cal State Dominguez Hills Saturday afternoon.
