2009 Men's Cross Country Roster
Biography
Despite a frustrating achilles tendon that has taken a good portion of consistency from his routine since his arrival to the Chico State campus, Clinton Hayes has still enjoyed a considerable amount of success. As a harrier his most recent cross country season was by far the best of his life. Hayes ran among the ‘Cats Top-7 on several occasions during the 2008 cross country season, including a 25:36 run at the Willamette Invitational.
His success on the track has followed his body’s ability to put consistent workouts together on a weekly and monthly basis. To date his best track season was his second on the CSUC campus, while he redshirted. His 1:50 PR for 800-meters during the 2008 track season came at the mid-June Jim Bush Invitational. The 2009 track season brought mixed results but his 1:51 runs at both the Chico Twilight and Occidental Invitiational meets qualified him for his first NCAA championships . One interesting claim that Clinton can boast of is having been a part of two different CCAA 1-5 sweeps on the track in the 800m run. In 2007 as a true freshman, Hayes finished 3rd in the CCAA 800-meter final, and in 2009, he finished 2nd overall.
